Barking Squirrel

January 02, 2013 at 4:22 PM

hop_city_blog.jpgWhen I first heard about Barking Squirrel, I was a little weary. With a name like that it should be a crazy beer.

When I poured it into my glass I was amazed it had the most beautiful dark orange color. The aroma was intoxicating, with smells of mild fruitiness and serious malt.

The magic happens with you drink it. It goes down easy with a clean and crisp taste. It is less watery in comparison to other lagers. There is a slight bitterness at the end.

This would make a great winter beer, drink enough of them and you will stay warm.

Now for the nerdy stuff.

The Ten Second Summary

All and all, prettiest lager I’ve ever laid eyes on. Super smooth finish, with delicate hop/malt balance. Toasted malts in the nose. Good, full flavored lager. Would definitely have again.
